		<description>Wow, what a shame. When the rubber meets the road, isn&#039;t it the journalist&#039;s job to conduct due diligence before running a story? 

Seems like the New York Times is attempting to deflect attention away from what is clearly an example of the decay of mainstream media. And it&#039;s probably all owing to the shrinking size of newsrooms which makes it extremely difficult for short-staffed reporters to dedicate the necessary time to their stories.
