New feature at UnJournalism: “Natch Watch”
I’ve had it. The folks at the Bad Pitch Blog have inspired me to take on my own form of outing people for inappropriate behavior. The folks at Bad Pitch publicly admonish PR folk who, well, make bad pitches. I will set no such limitation for myself; I’m gunnin’ for anyone.
The target of my ire is anyone who should - but doesn’t - know better than to use the “word” natch. Natch, you see, is this hideous non-word that certain people use when they mean to say “naturally” but are too lazy and stupid and are more concerned with sounding cool.
I pointed one instance out in yesterday’s post, and I’ve noticed this many times before. But today’s inaugural target of my “Natch Watch” ire goes to a blogger at PRWeek.com. PR Week is just getting started with it’s blogging, I believe, and I’m glad they’re doing it. I enjoying reading them. And I’m sure Hamilton Nolan is a good guy - perhaps a good guy too easily influenced by lazy and stupid “natch” users.
Boo Hamilton. Hooray real words! Give ‘em a try!
